Supreme Court DA Case
Once again the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) postponed the case related to Maharghabhata (DA Case). The dearness allowance case was supposed to be heard in the Supreme Court on March 21, 2023,
but due to the busyness of the Supreme Court Justices, the case did not come up and the hearing date was postponed. Employees who have been fighting for Da’s demands for a long time, were once again disappointed.
It has been informed by the Supreme Court that the hearing which was scheduled to be held on 21st March 2023 regarding the dearness allowance, will be repeated on 11th April next month.
The hearing was not possible as the judges of the Supreme Court were busy on this day. The government employees (West Bengal Government Employees) who have been agitating for a long time and the agitators who are standing on the platform under the Shaheed Minar are actually somewhat disappointed.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued a circular saying that the hearing will be held on March 21 instead of March 15. But after coming on March 21, that day was postponed again.
This hearing was supposed to be held in the Supreme Court on the basis of the Special Leave Petition of West Bengal Government. It has been informed by the Supreme Court that this case will be heard on April 21.
Many agitators have been agitating on the dharna stage under Kolkata Shaheed Minar, demanding due dearness allowance. Among them are many government employees. They are running a hunger strike.
A group of five of the hunger strikers also spoke to the Governor (West Bengal Governor). The Governor of West Bengal spoke to them and asked them to end their hunger strike, but they did not agree. They have demanded that the hunger strike will continue till they do not get their fair dearness allowance.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that it is unethical to seek DA like the central government working in the state. He also said that DA is being given to government employees as much as the state government can.
