Summer Project 2023
The heat of summer is on the rise. After a few days, summer vacation will be given in the educational institutions of the state. A set of guidelines (Summer Project Guidelines) have been given by the Department of Education regarding what students should do during this summer vacation. The school education department of the state wants to start the summer project from the school level. In that sense, the notification has been published by the education department about what the students should do during the summer vacation.
The West Bengal School Service Commission has informed that from now the summer project will be started in the state from the fifth standard . Students of class V to XII will be given vacation work as per the guidelines to develop independent thinking, leadership ability, research oriented mind etc. The education department informed that the knowledge that the students will acquire from the summer project will help them in higher education in their future life.
The West Bengal Education Department is trying to keep pace with the National Education Policy. The National Education Policy has emphasized on hands-on education of students. The state is also thinking of conducting education according to the national education policy at the national level . Education department is going to launch this project for overall development of students.

Care will be taken to ensure that students gain hands-on work experience. The project will also focus on making students more in touch with nature and making them more confident.
According to the choice of the students they will be given specific tasks in this project. And the students of each class will be given various tasks by the school authorities.
It has also been decided what kind of project will be given to certain classes of students. Class V and Class VI students will be given assignments related to nature observation. They will get five to seven days to complete the entire work.
7th and 8th class students have to visit a vocational training center or a science center for observation. Students should apply what they learn.
The project given to class 10 students requires them to visit a hospital, library, bank, college or handicraft center and observe them for about a week.
Students of class XI and XII also have to visit such a center to gain experience.Block Development Officer and Sub Divisional Magistrate will look after the concerned project.
