The admission process of the state government, government sponsored colleges and universities is going to be effective through the central portal from the academic year 2022-24. All those students who have passed the High Secondary Exam (West Bengal) examination this year will get the opportunity to get admission in the college through the central portal for the first time. And this rule will continue to be effective in the coming days.
Until now, for the admission process in a college of the state, the students had to fill the form separately by paying money on the different websites of those colleges. But from this time the old rule has been completely abolished. From now on, the admission process will be done in all the universities, government colleges and government sponsored colleges of the state through a specific central portal.
A notification in this regard has been published by the Higher Education Department of the West Bengal Government on Monday night. It has been said that this rule is going to be effective from the next academic year. From now on, students who have passed higher secondary can apply for admission in their preferred subjects or other subjects through a single platform.
This will reduce the cost of applying for students, and students will not have to apply multiple times. Besides, chances of filling up most of the seats in colleges and universities are increasing.
Till now students used to apply for admission in different colleges after passing higher secondary examination. In the college where the merit list was released first, they would get admission in that college by paying money. Later, if their name appeared in the merit list of another good college, they were again admitted to that college. As a result, all the money given in the previous college was lost to the students. From now on, students will not have to face any such problem.
Until a few years ago, the college admission process was done offline. However, at that time, the admission process was made online due to complaints of bribery, bribery etc. from the student union. However, complete transparency has not come. After many discussions with the central education department, this new decision was implemented. From now on, students can apply for college and university admission through a specific central portal.
