Every year, the Union Public Service Commission selects hundreds of unmarried boys through the ‘National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination’ and trains them through courses in the National Defense Academy and Naval Academy for officer posts in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.
Educational Qualification: High School Pass or equivalent for Army Branch of National Defense Academy. For National Defense Academy Air Force & Navy Branch and Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Ent Scheme) should pass Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or equivalent. Candidates appearing for higher secondary examination are required. You can apply accordingly.
Age: Age criteria is given after publication of notification. Stipend: A monthly stipend of Rs 56,100 will be available during training. Pay Scale: Basic Salary from Tk 56,100 to Tk 1,77,500 on successful completion of training, with other allowances.
Physical Qualification: Height for Army should be at least 157 cm for males and at least 152 cm for females. Height should be at least 162.5 cm for Flying Raj in Air Force. Minimum height for ground duty branch in Air Force is 157.5 cm for boys and 152 cm for girls.
Minimum height for Navy should be 157 cm for boys and 152 cm for girls. Gorkhas, Nepalis and natives of North East India, Garhwal and Kumaon regions will get 5 cm relaxation in all posts. For flying branch in Air Force leg length should be between 99cm to 120cm, Thai length between 64cm and sitting height between 81.5cm to 96cm.
For Airforce, chest size should be at least 77 cm and at least 5 cm expandable. In case of Navi, vision should be 6/6 in one eye without glasses, 6/9 in other eye and 6/6 in both eyes with glasses. For the flying branch of the Air Force, vision must be 6/6 in one eye, 6/1 in the other eye, correctable to 6/6 for those with hypermetropia.
For the ground duty branch of the Air Force, vision must be 6/36 in both eyes without glasses, 6/6 in both eyes with glasses. All the mentioned positions should have proportionate weightage. Candidate Selection Process: Candidates are selected through Written Test and Interview (Intelligence and Personality Test). West Bengal examination centers are Kolkata and Siliguri. After the complete selection process, the selected candidates will be given 3 years of initial training at the National Defense Academy.
Army cadets will get B.Sc / B.Sc (Computer) / BA degree, Naval cadets B.Tech degree and Air Force cadets B.Te degree / B.Sc/B.Sc (Computer) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
After passing out from National Defense Academy, Army cadets undergo 1 year at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Naval cadets undergo 1 year at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Air Force Flying Branch cadets undergo 1.5 years at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, Air Force Ground Duty-Non-Tech Cadets undergo 6 months at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and The ground duty-tech cadets will undergo 6 months of training at the Air Force Technical College, Bangalore. At the end of the entire selection process, the selected candidates are given 4 years of initial training in the Naval Academy and awarded the BTech degree.’-
