Hundreds of children are recruited as wireless operators in the telecommunication department of the state police. Educational Qualification: Higher Secondary or equivalent in Science with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board. Candidates must know how to write, read and speak Bengali (not applicable to residents of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts).
Age: Between 18 to 27 years. Schedule community candidates will get 5 years age relaxation, OBC candidates will get 3 years age relaxation. Physical measurements for boys height 167 cm, weight 56 kg, uninflated chest 78 cm and inflated 83 cm.
Gorkha, Garhwali, Rajvanshi and T.A. Candidates height should be 160 cm, weight 52 kg, uninflated chest should be 76 cm and inflated 81 cm. For girls, height 160 cm, weight 48 kg. Gorkha, Garhwali, Rajvanshi and Tahujja candidates height 152 cm, weight 45 kg.

Candidate Selection Process : The entire recruitment process is in 5 steps. Through Preliminary Written Test, Shahrik Mapjok, Physical Ability Test, Final Test, Interview. First the preliminary written test will be of 100 marks in ‘objective type multiple choice’ method. The time will be one and a half hours.
The exam will be in Bengali and Nepali language. For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted from the marks obtained. The exam will be General Knowledge and Current Affairs of 40 marks, Mathematics of 20 marks, Everyday Physical Science of 20 marks and Logical and Analytical Reasoning of 20 marks. If you pass this test then you will be tested for physical criteria.
Here the height and weight of the candidate will be seen. After that, physical ability test will be taken for those who are successful in this exam. The test will consist of 800 meters race in 3 minutes for boys and 40 meters race in 2 minutes for girls. Candidates who pass the physical aptitude test will be called for the final written test. The final written examination will be in two parts of 85 marks.
Part-1 will have 70 objective type questions of 70 marks on Physics and Mathematics. Time will be 1 hour. For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted from the marks obtained.Part-II, Language Test: Translation from English to Bengali / Nepali (15 marks) will be required. Time will be 30 minutes. Successful candidates of final exam will be called for interview.
